Never had I imagined, packing up and moving to Portland, OR, a city I had never visited and in which I only knew ONE person (the man with whom I'd spend forever). Over the past 9 months, my life has shifted drastically. In September of last year, I was reunited with a friend who I had not seen in over 8yrs. In short, he swept me off my feet, made me his wife and moved me from my 5.5 year residence in The Sunshine State.
Today, our New Hope Missionary Baptist Church family (along with Portland community friends) welcomed us as husband and wife by throwing us a marriage reception. We were graced with beautiful songs, an array of food and desserts, gifts and much love. As much as I would like to say I remember and can recall everyone by name, that simply would not be the truth. However, the progress I have made since my first visit to the Pacific Northwest is rather evident (if I may say so myself). I am truly thankful for all those who celebrated with us today. Each of you have shown your love and support in your own unique way. Thank you for sharing your time and space.
To Darlene Warren, who headed this event: you said you were going to take great care of me (as you do J. Walter) and today simply says that "great" is an understatement. You're amazing!
I am excited to call Portland home and to call New Hope family as well!! This is just the beginning, and what a journey it will be!! 😍
